Helllooo! Are you having a relaxing Sunday? I’m shamelessly enjoying a very lazy morning today. Gotta have those every once in a while. 😉 And now I’m finally getting around to sharing my pictures from last weekend. My mom came to visit me! She arrived Friday night, and we started the evening with cocktails at Bemelman’s at The Carlyle Hotel. I wish I would’ve snapped a picture of the piano player, too — he was outstanding!
On Saturday, I had quite the agenda planned out for us. According to my mom, we need to slow down more next time — haha. I was a bit overly ambitious with the activity line-up! Gotta make the most of the time. We started the day off at Lafayette for brunch, which, might I add was my favorite restaurant we visited all weekend! The inside is beautiful — open, airy — and the food… outstanding. I ordered an omelette and carrot muffin. The restaurant also boasts an in-house bakery.
After brunch, we got pedicures at Bliss Spa in Soho. I don’t like to throw the phrase ‘best-ever’ around very freely, but the pedicure here really was!
Following Bliss, we took a wine tour with City Wine Tours. The tour began at City Winery, with stops at Galli and Comodo. We tasted various different wines, anything you can imagine, really: Prosecco, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir… the list goes on! We really enjoyed the tour, especially our guide, who was extremely informative and engaging. I learned a wealth of new info about wine, too! For example, I never really knew why wine was supposed to be stored on its side — it’s so that the cork stays moist and doesn’t dry out. Who knew…? (Side note: according to my brief Wikipedia research, this doesn’t apply to Champagne. More on that here.)
Later that evening, we ate dinner at Minetta Tavern in the West Village. The best part? Obviously, their coconut cake. Superb!
Sunday we took a leisurely stroll to Sarabeth’s for brunch. Can you believe we sat outside? The weather was pretty perfect the whole weekend, high 50’s, low 60’s — we were so lucky!
We walked through Central Park for the remainder of the afternoon. I was so excited that the leaves finally changed color!
And I can’t take credit for these cute pumpkins! A house in my neighborhood had them on display. I love the ‘boo’ one!
I can’t believe October is already (almost) over! I’m so glad my mom came out to visit this month, and in particular, this weekend — we really lucked out weather-wise!
